You may refund a customer for a full or partial previous transaction amount. If you are trying to refund a charge that was processed today, chances are it may be more cost effective to Void the transaction instead. Step-By-Step Instructions
To refund a customer, locate the original transaction.
- Click the Search button.
- You will be directed to the Search Transactions page.
- Put in any criteria you wish to search by. It is NOT required to fill out all of the fields.
- Click the Search button.
- Click on the 3 dots next to the transaction.
- Select Refund. This will not instantaneously charge the card. It will allow you to adjust information on the transaction and then process.
- Click the Process button at the bottom of the page.
Since April 2019, Visa requires Refunds to be approved by the Issuer (your customer's bank).
Refunds take 3-5 business days to deposit back into your customer's account. They will not immediately see funds put back into their account.
