Mid-qual fees are assessed for keying-in transactions on merchant accounts that are expecting card swipe data, and vice versa. This downgrade fee is passed on to you from the card associations.
Non-qual fees are assessed for multiple reasons:
- AVS is not turned on for keyed transactions.
- Transactions are not batched/settled within 24 hours.
- Corporate, rewards, or frequent flyer mileage credit cards usually pass the cost of these rewards programs on to the merchant as a non-qual fee.
Note:
To help reduce fees, please be sure to batch your transactions within 24 hours (By default, PayJunction accounts are set to settle automatically), and that AVS is turned on for non-swiped or keyed transactions.
