When possible, combine your written response summary and supporting documents into one organized PDF before submitting a chargeback response.
merlinkresponse.com only allows one file to be selected during each submission. If your response consists of multiple files, you must repeat the submission process for each file unless you combine them first.

1. Prepare Your Documents
Before combining the files:
- Complete the Chargeback Response Summary Template.
- Save the completed summary as a PDF.
- Gather the supporting documents you want to include.
- Arrange the documents so the response summary appears first, followed by the supporting documents in the order they are discussed in your summary.
Protect Sensitive Information
Avoid uploading chargeback documents to unfamiliar online PDF-combining websites. These documents may contain sensitive customer, transaction, or payment information.
2. If a Document Is Not a PDF
If a document is saved as a Word file, image, or another file type, you may need to save it as a PDF before combining it.
Open the document and use one of the following options:
- Select Save As or Export, then choose PDF.
- Select Print, then choose Save as PDF or Microsoft Print to PDF.
The available option depends on your computer and the program used to open the document.
3. Combine PDFs on a Mac
- Save the completed response summary and supporting documents as PDF files.
- Open the folder containing the PDFs in Finder.
- Select the completed response summary and all supporting PDFs you want to combine. Select them in the order you want them to appear, beginning with the response summary.
- Right-click or Control-click the selected files.
- Select Quick Actions, then select Create PDF.
- Open the combined PDF and confirm that the response summary appears first and the supporting documents are in the correct order.
The combined PDF will be saved in the same folder as the original files.
4. Combine Files Using Adobe Acrobat
Use these steps if Adobe Acrobat’s Combine Files feature is available on your Windows or Mac computer.
- Open Adobe Acrobat.
- Select Tools, then select Combine Files.
- Select Add Files.
- Add the completed response summary and supporting documents.
- Drag the files into the desired order. Place the response summary first.
- Select Combine.
- Save the combined PDF to your computer.
Adobe Acrobat may allow you to combine PDFs, Word documents, and images directly. Available features may depend on your version or subscription.
For additional assistance, see Adobe’s instructions for combining files into one PDF.
5. Review the Combined PDF
Before submitting it, open the combined PDF and confirm that:
- The completed response summary appears first.
- All intended supporting documents are included.
- The pages appear in the correct order.
- Every page is readable and facing the correct direction.
- All documents belong to the correct chargeback case.
If the combined PDF is too large to upload, reduce the file size or submit the documents separately.
6. Submit the Response
Submit the completed response directly to the TSYS Chargeback Department through merlinkresponse.com.
If you cannot combine the documents, submit the first file and repeat the submission process for each additional file.
Important
Combining the documents does not affect the outcome of the chargeback. It helps keep the response organized and reduces the number of separate submissions required.
